Just some update on the injured fish...

The infected part now has no more white cotton wool growth, seems to be some healing taking place, there is a sudden recess in the body where he got injured..

It pains me to see a fish that I rescued from ending up as feeder fish, turning into a beauty and getting injured..

Get well soon.. little one!

Betta Updates...

My injured betta seems to be doing better then yesterday...

His colour has came back, and the open wound on the fish does not seem to be 'bleeding' anymore... hopes he recovers..

Trying to keep my water very clean to prevent any secondary infections!

Freak accident!

Discovered a freak accident just in time...

My betta that I rescued from a bag of feeders was stuck in an ornament...

Managed to help it dislodge from the ornament.

However, part of its body has been torn.. god knows how long it had been submerged without coming to the surface for water...

Thank god it is alive..

Isolating this little guy, hope it gets well.. before I can reintroduce him back to his tank!

Some time back...

I saved this whole group of betta feeders...

After some caring for them.. some died, some grew... and this piece... happens to be my favourite.. a hot spicy red..

More pics of the wild betta that I got yesterday.... request from people since yesterday pics were not so well taken..

As you can see, the colours have intensified.. its a lively shade of red now!

So any idea on identity?

Wild Betta?

Not sure if this is a wild betta...

But I just got it from my LFS... it was sitting in a little jar looking quite pathetic...

Anyone can advise on the identity?

The pics above were taken in a holding tank before I introduced him into his tank!

Betta rutilans

I actually had this wild betta in my tank for such a long period of time... it's pretty adapt at hiding in between the plants, behind rocks..

It's only recently that I discovered the identity of this wild beauty. Introducing you Betta rutilans:

It is apparently a mouth brooder... nice colouration.. love the colour of its eyes!

Rescued this bag of feeder bettas at an aquarium store earlier this week.

As I observed these fishes, which were so called condemned by others, I learnt new lessons in life and got a new direction to look towards too.

Sometimes in life, we just tend to overlook things.

Who said we cant learn things from the imperfect?

A Good Deed?

I just wanted to pop by the aquarium shop to get a plastic connector for my overhead filter, cos my old one was cracking and I certainly did not want to take the risk getting a wet floor the next day.

I saw some bettas bagged in a bag floating in a tank, with other bags of feeders together. It was the only bag containing bettas... On closer look, I saw that they were very colourful, and should be mostly females, despite most of them having slightly torn fins and they could be stunted runts.

Could not bear to see them eaten up, so I bought them... I know I won't be able to save all the bettas from being used as feeders, but well.. just based on instincts at the moment, I felt that I should get them.

Opened up the bag, when I got home, placed them in a little housing tank.. before I release them into my simple planted tank, which I will be revamping soon. Actually, they are pretty colourful, don't you think so?
