On the advice of some forummer from Arofanatics, I got some substrate to plant my crypto wendtii in!

Got this brand with Japanese words all over, it is labelled as Custom Soil:

The particle size is quite small, and i realised that, it gets crushed pretty easily too!

Here is my crpyto after planting in the bottle:

I am trying to grow my Crpyto wendtii emmersed as adviced by some of the forummers in Arofanatics!

Left in its original pot with the wool inside... and just place sufficient water to keep the wool moist...

See how thing goes, hope to see the crypto flower, as it is said that they only do so emmersed and not submerged!

Cherry Shrimps

Got a bag of cherry shrimps today, decided that it would be good for them to clean up any left over foods as well as the melting cryptos if any, you can see the whole army of them soaking in the bag floating in the tank for temperature to stabilize prior to introduction in the tank!

Very nice, dainty shades of pink and for some, salmon pink, the actually 'fall in' to get into the their new tank.. so cute:

After getting into their tank, they quickly make their way to different places, hiding amongst the crypto wendtii, on the marimo moss balls etc..:

I thought that I lost a mountain shrimp today when I saw this:

Turns out that the little critter just moulted and thats the moult..

The shrimp looking happier admist the newly planted crypts!

Pretty amazing to see these gentle giants feed using their modified claws which open up in a fan like structure to filter passing foods!

Just an update of my parrot fish tank:

Beautiful yuanbao parrot:

The small 'white' parrot i got now seems to be turning a little orange in colour, not sure if its due to the diet:

Other miscellanous shots:

Not exactly me.. ..

But my crypto seems to be melting away....

What was once a bushy healthy plants... is not reduced to a state of not more then 10 healthy leaves.

Understand from many sources on the Internet that crypto melt is a common syndrome when the plants are given a change of environment, in terms of lighting levels and duration, pH, etc, which is definitely the case since transplanting.

One thing that comforts me is that I tried tugging at the plants... thankfully, the root systems have seem to be more established.. not as lose as when I planted them..

Hope the beauties will regenerate their crowning glory soon... will update accordingly!

Bought this Azoo Condensed Fertilizer for my cryptos after reading that they have voracious appetite for nutrients!

Quite spoiled for choice when I was at the fish shop actually.. and it certainly took me some time before I could make a decision on which substrate fertilizer to choose!

This is how the fertilizer looks:

Quite curious, as I am a newbie to this.. will the 'ball' actually shrink over time??

Just got some new additions to my simple planted tank...

A speciecs of anubias that I cant really make out the name on the packaging...

I like the reddish stem and interesting shapes of the leaves...

Been also quite into Cryptocoryne species recently.

Got one specimen of Cryptocoryne wendtii tropical, which has a nice brownish and slightly curly leaves...

Also, another specimen of Cryptocoryne wendtii green, which as its name suggests is really has more green tones..

Hope the plants will survive and flourish well!
